Love is in the air is my Theme

No 1 is a quilling of a pair of Toucans. The male toucan is trying to draw the attention of the female on the above branch

No 2 is a pair of  Giraffes in a very romantic mood

No 3 is a Peacock and hen . I have done a similar quilling long time ago

No 4 is tweeter trying hard to impress tweety with his love talk

No 5 Is a couple of swans whispering sweet nothing as all couples in love

Love is in the Air was the theme of a quilling group who was having a challenge competition and wanted me to be the artist of the month. I had not quilled for about 2 years now and was in two minds if I should accept it or not. My fingers had not been working on quilling for some time and I was not sure if I had lost touch of it but it was an inspiration to start again. So I started with the swans which I know is not too good but went on with the peacock then tweety and and the giraffes and last,  the toucans

So here is my new quillings for you to judge . Hope to do more this year though God knows what I am going to do with all my quillings

Quilled Red Rooster

Been a bit bored with quilling and went on to some of my other hobbies, but could not keep away from quilling for long. On a visit to China I was fascinated with the art of Chinese paper cuttings . many times I wanted to try it, but their was no motivation for it. so I decided I would quill it instead. I choose to do it in red on white background. I have not surfed the net, to find out why they do it in red and white, but I think they may have a reason for it .I had no reason what so ever but did it in these to colours cause I liked the colour combination : ). The design is what came into my head as I was quilling it. The idea came from a design of a rooster, in paper art. But I made changes to suite my quilling. Hope you like it

Creative Quilling - PEACE DOVE

This picture is just a time killer. I was cleaning my messy table and found  lots of black strips of paper all over it. Was wondering if I should throw them away but made up my mind that I should use them to create something. So this is the result of it. The dove should have been in white, but I had to make use of the black strips. My friends on facebook thinks it does not matter, so hear it is flying around my blog saying, Hi !!, to you :) Hope you like it. Happy quilling till I am back with a something new

Special Greeting Cards

These two cards were made with  left over strips and  goes into my collection of hand made cards. So many quilled cards and pictures. What am I going to do with them? Most of my cards are experiment quilling designs. I have used only 18" strips of paper. Even for the bunch of blue fringed flowers. There are 9 little flowers in the bunch. Did not take much time to do the cards. It is to make use of my free time till I think of something special to do. Hope to come up with something different soon ;)

King Fisher

King Fisher by anastasiaw2008
King Fisher, a photo by anastasiaw2008 on Flickr.
I saw this beautiful bird sitting on the telephone wire just out side my window where I work. I took a photograph of him and started quilling it. The bird had just dived into the pond of my neighbour and its wings were all fluffy. I wanted to quill it the same way. The back ground picture is my imagination.

But these pictures does not take time as the others I have quilled but need very steady fingers lots of patience and a sharp eye too. I hope to do one in silver before I start on a new hobby. My home is getting crowded with all these hobbies of mine but this is my life and as long as my fingers could take it I will go on with it
